Account & data

Account and security

Sign in with a code texted to your mobile, change your name, sign out of every device, set the interface language, and delete your account.

You manage your account on the Account page in the app. Open it from the sidebar on a computer, or from the bottom menu on a phone.

Signing in

capshak has no passwords. You sign in with your mobile number and a one-time code:

  1. Open Log in, enter your Mobile number and click Send code.
  2. We text you a Verification code. Type it in to sign in.

The first time you sign in, your account is created, and the app asks for your name before you continue. Each code works once and only for a short time. You can ask for a new code after a short wait, and after too many wrong tries you need a new one.

Change your name

Under Profile, edit your name as shown in the app and click Save.

Sign out everywhere

Lost a phone or used a shared computer? Under Security, click Sign out everywhere. This ends every session on every device, including the one you are using. Then log in again where you need to.

To sign out of just this device, use Log out in the menu.

Interface language

capshak speaks Persian and English. Under Interface language, pick the one you want. It is saved to your account, so every device uses it. You can also switch with the فارسی / English button in the menu. The interface language does not change the language of your captions.

Delete your account

On the Account page (or Settings in the Android app), click Delete account, choose Send confirmation code and enter the code we text to your phone. Your account, projects, backed-up videos and remaining credits are deleted for good, and you are signed out on every device. This cannot be undone. To remove a single project, delete it from the Projects page instead. That removes the project, its captions and its server copy of the video.

How your data is kept safe

  • Your videos are edited and exported in your browser and are not uploaded unless you choose Back up video. See Backup and devices.
  • For captions, only a small audio file is sent, and the server does not keep it.
  • Backups are played through short-lived private links and deleted after the retention period.
  • The app stores your login, language and a few small preferences in your browser. There are no third-party ad trackers.

Tips

  • The code doesn’t arrive? Check the number you typed, then wait for the resend timer to finish and ask again. Make sure your phone can receive text messages.
  • “Wait a moment before asking for another code.” A code is already on its way. Wait for the timer, then ask again.
  • “The code is not right.” Check the digits and type the code from the latest message.
  • “This code has expired. Ask for a new one.” The code timed out or had too many wrong tries. Ask for a new code and use it.
  • Never share your code with anyone. capshak will never ask you for it.
  • Payment questions? See Payments.
