Exporting turns your edit into an MP4 file (H.264 video, AAC audio) with every cut, color change, text, effect and caption burned in. It runs on your own device, it is free, and there is no watermark.
Export an MP4
- Click Export video in the editor.
- Choose the options below. The Output line shows the final size in pixels, the frame rate and an estimated file size.
- Click Export MP4.
- Wait while it shows Rendering… with the percent done and the time left.
- When you see Your video is ready, click Download.
Keep this tab open until it finishes. The video is built in this tab, so closing or reloading it stops the export.
Options
- Resolution: Original, 1080p or 720p. 4K (2160p) appears when the source is larger than 1080p.
- Frame rate: Source (your video’s own rate), 30 fps or 24 fps.
- Quality: Standard, High or Best. Higher quality looks sharper and makes a bigger file.
- Captions: which caption track to burn in, Original or one of your translations. See Translate captions.
The size of the picture (9:16, 1:1, 4:5 or 16:9) comes from the Canvas tool.
Download captions as SRT
Click Download .srt in the same dialog to save the chosen caption track as a subtitle file, timed to your edit. Use it to upload captions to platforms that support them, next to the video.
File size
The file size depends on resolution, frame rate, quality and length. To make a smaller file, lower the resolution to 720p, choose Standard quality, or use 30 fps.
Troubleshooting
- “This browser cannot encode video.” Exporting needs H.264 encoding in the browser. Use a recent Chrome, Edge or Safari (on iPhone and iPad, iOS 17 or later). Firefox can edit but may not be able to export. See Browsers and devices.
- “Some videos in the edit are not on this device.” A video or sound used in the edit is missing here. Relink it in the Edit tool, or remove it. See Backup and devices.
- Export is slow or fails. Close other heavy tabs, plug in your laptop, and try a lower resolution or Standard quality. Keep the tab in front while it renders.
- A font looks different. A font from My fonts that is not on this device is replaced by a fallback. Add the font on this device and export again.
- Changed something after exporting? Click Export again to render a new file. Exports are free, so you can export as often as you like.
